Dr. Mario Quesada – Orthopedic Surgeon
Mario Quesada grew up in Anitoch, California. After obtaining a BS degree in Biology from UC Santa Barbara, he attended medical school at USC School of Medicine. Dr. Quesada completed an internship and a trauma fellowship at the University of Florida Shands in Jacksonville. He pursued an Orthopedic residency at MLK/Drew Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA and Louisiana State University, New Orleans. He continued an interest in joint reconstruction and received his fellowship training under the leadership of Drs. Michael Mont and Ron Delanois at the Rubin Institute for Advanced Orthopedics in Baltimore, MD. Dr. Mario Quesada has been recruited by Valley Baptist Medical Center and joins them as the only fellowship trained joint reconstruction specialist located in Cameron County.
Along with the ability to treat patients with many types of orthopedic needs, Dr. Quesada came to Brownsville and brought with him more experience in Anterior Total Hip Replacement than anyone in the Rio Grande Valley. As one of the pioneers of this minimally invasive procedure since starting his practice in Albuquerque, NM, and then again in Las Vegas, NV, he has completed well over 1000 hip replacements via the Anterior Approach. Patient satisfaction and better outcomes is what led Dr. Quesada to train at a more advanced level. He carries this minimally invasive belief into all aspects of his surgical practice. This unmatched experience, coupled with his expertise in joint reconstruction provides unrivaled outcomes to his patients.
Dr. Quesada has been honored to the Who’s Who Among Latino Medical Doctors and has been published in the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery as well as in Techniques in Orthopedics. He continues to teach the anterior hip arthroplasty technique to other doctors nationally and internationally. He has also traveled internationally to lecture on the subject.
